Indianapolis Gears Up to Dine Out on Thursday, April 24th

For the 13th year, the Damien Center and Indianapolis-area restaurants are partnering to serve up an important event to fight HIV/AIDS. Dining Out for Life will take place on Thursday, April 24th and everyone is invited to dine out at one of the participating restaurants on that day for a great cause.
Taking part in Dining Out for Life is simple. Just choose one of the 30+ participating restaurants and gather your friends, family, or co-workers to join you there on April 24th for a truly satisfying meal, knowing that you will also be helping someone in our community. These restaurants will then donate a percentage of the bill to the Damien Center. There are no tickets to buy, no extra fees or hidden costs. You don’t even have to tell your server that you are there for Dining Out for Life because everyone’s bill is included.
The Damien Center is Indiana’s oldest and largest AIDS service organization. Its mission is to empower persons in Central Indiana affected by HIV/AIDS to move forward each day with dignity and to lead the fight to prevent the spread of HIV. More than 1,300 clients are currently being served as well as thousands of HIV negative people seeking prevention, education, and emotional support.
This year’s Dining Out for Life takes place in the wake of the realization that many people no longer think of HIV/AIDS as a threat. Advancements in the treatment of the disease are allowing people to live longer, healthier lives and much of the general public erroneously seems to believe that there is a cure. There is also now a generation of young people who did not experience the initial fear of AIDS and do not see it as ever impacting their lives. They are especially at risk, making the Damien Center’s mission all the more important for the health of our community.
