The Indianapolis City-County Council has been a breeding ground for bad behavior recently. First we had one Councilor arrested for drunk and disorderly conduct, another forced to resign because he didn't live in his district and a Council leader who thought he was a mob boss. Today brings news that City-County Councilor Doris Minton-McNeil was arrested for allegedly assaulting battery on a police officer while liquored up.
Maybe we should start one of those Celebrity Death Match reality shows. We could pit our Council against Detroit's. After all, both of the esteemed bodies seem to relish in embarrassing themselves and their colleagues.
Video of Detroit Council President Pro-Tem Monica Conyers making children proud after the jump. I think she could take Mary Moriarty-Adams. Who are you betting on?
[Note:] I updated the post to reflect the correct charge.

it wasn't assault; it was battery. in legal terms, even spitting on someone is considred "battery".
she was trying to get into her house and bumped into a cop. that was the "battery" that she was arrested for. hardly seems like something that's worth arresting her for.

Good call, stAllio. I changed the post to correct it.
One thing I've noticed is that they never say how she actually hurt the officer's wrist. Still though, you have to admit that this is embarrassing for the council yet again.
