Everyone please wish Dr. David Orentlicher well as he joins the Bilerico-Indiana family. Dr. Orentlicher is co-director of the Center for Law and Health at the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis.
He also is an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. Previously, he served as the Director of the Division of Medical Ethics at the American Medical Association where he drafted the AMA's first ever Patients' Bill of Rights and its guidelines on a wide range of issues, including gifts to physicians from drug companies.
Since November 2002, Dr. Orentlicher has served in the Indiana House of Representatives, representing District 86 in Indianapolis. He was named "Best Politician" in 2007 by NUVO newsweekly for his work on property tax reform, reproductive rights, and equality for all persons, and in 2005, he was named Legislator of the Year by the ACLU of Indiana for his defense of civil liberties. He has authored legislation to promote job creation, protect children and make health care coverage more affordable.
While we're a site with a decidedly queer perspective on politics and state issues, on our local affiliates we don't hew as closely to the "all-gay-all-the-time" perspective of Bilerico Project. With Dr. Orentlicher's experience - and his history of supporting LGBT issues in the Statehouse, I'm confident he'll be a perfect fit with the B-IN family.
Welcome, David!

Welcome David! We are so glad to have you as part of the family!
