A "warning" is circulating today by various and sundry religious right-wing media outlets urging "families" everywhere to beware this Saturday! Why? "Militant homosexuals" around the nation are gathering to protest.
"Honey, hide the children, lock the doors, close the windows, pull the shades!!"
What is this event? Is the world going to end? Is my family in danger? Will my children be traumatized?
Onenewsnow.com headlines "Warning issued re: 'kissing' event". Huh?
The Illinois Family Institute is warning families about an event taking place this Saturday.
The event -- called "The Great Nationwide Kiss-In" -- is being promoted by bloggers David Badash and David Mailloux. On their Facebook event page they claim that "any person anywhere should be able to kiss whomever they want, whenever they want." According to the Facebook page, the event is in protest to recent events in Texas and Utah where homosexual couples were allegedly detained or harassed by law enforcement for kissing in public.
The Illinois based "family" group is urging "pro-family" organizations to find out where these events are taking place so they can advise families to avoid these places. The events are being billed as "public spectacles".
Public spectalcle indeed.
